Who We Are

Natural Coffee in Kenya for Local & International Clients

Oldonyo Sapuk Coffee understands the challenges in today's coffee industry. The journey from farm to cup can be unpredictable. Variations in harvests, inconsistent bean quality, long supply chains, and limited traceability often leave coffee drinkers, roasters, cafés, and distributors unsure of what they will receive from one batch to the next.

Navigating the coffee market can also be frustrating. Labels like "Kenyan coffee" or "African blend" rarely reveal the true origin, the farmer behind the crop, or how the coffee was grown and processed. This lack of transparency makes it difficult to maintain consistent flavor, build trust with customers, or tell authentic stories about the coffee you serve.

At Oldonyo Sapuk Coffee, you don't have to face these challenges alone. We provide transparent, reliable, and high-quality coffee sourced directly from the farm, giving buyers confidence in both origin and consistency.

Our Foundation

Built on Authenticity, Traceability & Relationship

Founded by a passionate coffee expert with over 15 years of hands-on experience and more than 100 successful harvests, Oldonyo Sapuk Coffee is built on authenticity, traceability, and strong relationships with coffee lovers and partners around the world. Located on the scenic slopes of Oldonyo Sapuk, our farm has become known for producing distinctive Kenyan coffee while offering genuine farm-to-cup experiences.

Our team works closely with coffee drinkers, roasters, cafés, distributors, and visitors to ensure quality, transparency, and meaningful connections to the source.

Planted & Harvested With Sustainability & Climate Change in Mind

The Kenya Coffee Research Foundation played a vital role in helping us establish our first plantation, carefully identifying the coffee species best suited to our land—varieties we have proudly sustained to this day. Committed to climate resilience, most of our coffee is intercropped with trees and bananas, avoiding mono-cropping and preventing deforestation.

We've further embraced afforestation by integrating avocados, macadamia, mangoes, and Grevillea trees across the farm. Regular soil analyses ensure acidity and nutrient levels remain optimal, allowing us to maintain productivity without overusing chemicals.

Our organic approach also incorporates livestock, bees, and other animals, with regular manuring and expanded flower planting to enhance pollination, ensuring healthy, sustainable soils and a thriving ecosystem.

Coffee Estate Aligned With Long-term Government & Market Demands

The government is working to identify all coffee farms so that every purchase can be traced back to its source, verifying adherence to human-safe production and recommended agricultural practices, including responsible chemical use.

Today, authenticity matters more than ever, as coffee bought at the auction often lacks clear origin. At Oldonyo Sapuk, we go beyond compliance—we grow and sell our coffee under our estate name, ensuring full traceability and giving buyers confidence in its source.

Our farming practices are designed for sustainability and flavor: we integrate livestock, bees, and other animals, interplant with trees, bananas, and other crops, and use regular organic manuring to minimize chemical use.

It's no wonder that those who taste Oldonyo Sapuk coffee are mesmerized by its depth, complexity, and natural flavor—every cup reflects the care, organic cultivation, and meticulous attention we put into our farm.

Coffee Estate that is Fair to Farm Employees

At Oldonyo Sapuk Coffee, we are committed to ensuring that our farm sets a global benchmark for ethical and fair treatment of employees. Unlike many coffee-growing regions where workers face low wages, poor conditions, or exploitative practices, our team is valued, trained & empowered, with fair compensation and safe working environments. Our first employee is still with us 10 years later.

Seasonal & permanent workers are fully integrated into the farm's operations, from planting and harvesting to processing and quality control, fostering a sense of ownership and pride. By prioritizing worker welfare alongside sustainable farming, we create a coffee that is not only exceptional in flavor but also produced with integrity, transparency, and respect for every individual involved.

Our Story

A Land Reclaimed for World-Class Coffee

This land has a powerful story. Decades ago, these plantations were operated by German farmers through the Muka Mukuu cooperative. When mismanagement led to the cooperative's collapse, coffee farming disappeared from the land. Many farmers abandoned coffee entirely, leasing the fields to pineapple plantations instead.

But in November 2016, everything changed. Scientists from the Coffee Research Foundation inspected the soil, terrain, and climate — and concluded that this land was still perfect for world-class coffee.

From that moment, the estate was rebuilt from the ground up. New planting systems were introduced, fertilization became scientific, drip irrigation was installed, and disease-resistant coffee varieties were planted. Today, Oldonyo Sapuk grows three exceptional Arabica varieties — Ruiru 11, Ruiru 11 Grafted, and SL varieties — each selected for its flavor profile, resilience, and production quality.

We are on a mission to bring back the natural coffee reputation into every household & business as far as possible.
